Painting is writing poetry with lines and colors
Watercolours by Livorno artist Chiara Morelli
Each work on display is born from the inspiration derived from reading a poem. The intent, sometimes unconscious, is to make an emotion, a mood, or a metaphor visible.
The expressive language used is the result of ongoing graphic and pictorial research that defines the personal style of the artist. It blends two different techniques: watercolor, which is more painterly, and ink, which is more graphic.
The style is strongly influenced by Art Nouveau aesthetics and the graphics of the early 20th century, and is evident, for example, in the strong lines of the graphic contours and in some quotations or references to works of great artists like Mucha or Klimt.
The female subjects are often enriched with floral or natural elements in a dialogue between Nature and Humanity, between Soul and Aesthetics, in a continuous movement.
The artworks on display vary in format and size, hand-made on paper, and are accompanied by excerpts from the poems that inspired them, also painted in watercolor. Pairing texts with drawings is intended as an invitation to immerse oneself in the world of poetry as well, because in art, every discipline converses with the others in a flow of beauty that enriches our lives.
