Nubras is an international ensemble formed in 2022 that is dedicated to building a bridge between “Western classical music” and the sound traditions of the Balkans and the Middle East, bringing together musicians from the worlds of classical, jazz, and folk music.

An all-female string trio featuring violinists Carla Mulas González and Giulia Anita Bari (Spain/Italy) and cellist Rachel Blueberger (Poland), along with multi-instrumentalist Giorgio Gadotti (Italy), percussionist Giovanni Lo Cascio (Italy), and accordionist Nino Conte (Italy), come together to explore Bulgarian dances, Romanian suites, and songs from the Serbian and Macedonian traditions. These are the colors that transport the audience to different dimensions, from moments of celebration to intimate portraits of Eastern European villages.

The repertoire, rearranged by the musicians of Nubras, is born from their travels and encounters over the years in Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania. Each piece carries a story, a exchange with local musicians and professionals who have been studying this repertoire for years.

In just one year since its formation, Nubras has performed in over 50 concerts in Italy and abroad, and has been selected for double concerts at the FOLKEST 2023 Festival and the Folkest Showcase in 2024, as well as at the Segesta theater festival, among many others.
