Janelas was born in 2018 from the meeting of four musicians steeped in heterogeneous experiences, who find in understanding and improvisation the glue and magic that gives strength to their musical projects.
Maritime and insular atmospheres permeate their music, which often oscillates between the saudade of Bossa Nova and the joyful rhythms of samba, without disdain for a splash of swing or “verdade tropical” on Italian songs from the 1920s to today.
The project “CAMBIAMENTI” stems from the sense of restlessness that crosses our time and the profound urgency of a transformation, of a change in perspective. And Janelas do it in the way that suits them best: they play with words – already in the title of the project – and with music, collecting sixteen songs from their repertoire that best respond to this need.
“It is a real revolution that calls us to jump out of the windows of our being – janelas in Portuguese means “windows” – from which we jump like children to chase “o trem azul” the blue train of the song by Lô Borges: Você pega o trem azul / O sol na cabeça / O sol pega o trem azul / Você na cabeça / O sol na cabeça (Take the blue train / The sun in your head / The sun catches the blue train / You in your head / The sun in your head).”
The concert spans various genres, from bossa nova to jazz, through Italian singer-songwriter music, blues, and funk. Among the authors proposed are Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Flavio Venturini, Guinga, Goran Bregovic, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea, Pino Daniele, Ennio Morricone.
As always, the program will be enriched by some original compositions and moments of pure improvisation.
